Climbing the  marvellous stairways called “The Cordonata” by Michelangelo reach The Capitol, one of the seven hills of Rome, today the Major’s House. The Capitol Square was designed by  Michelangelo. Continue towards The Roman Forum the political, military and social centre of the whole Roman Empire, see the Temple of Julius Cesar, the Basilica Emilia, the Arch of Titus and the Roman Senate. Enter inside the Colosseum, Rome’s greatest amphitheatre built by the Emperor Vespasian in 72 A.D. It could accommodate more than  50.000 people. Complete the tour visiting the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, built in the Vcent. to preserve the chains of Peter displayed

under the main altar. The church is famous for the Statue of Moses, Michelangelo’s masterpiece, made when he was 42 years old
