2-hour walking tour: The hidden treasures of Venice

The official local guide will meet the group or family in the hotel lobby (if located in the city center) or in the middle of the two Columns of San Marco and San Teodoro in Piazza San Marco. At the start of the tour, you will enjoy the view of splendid monuments and palaces: the Basilica of San Marco with its extraordinary Byzantine architecture and golden details, the Campanile, the Doge’s Palace, a masterpiece of Venetian Gothic architecture. Avoiding – as much as possible – the crowds, the guide will take you to quiet and hidden areas of the city. Passing through bridges, alleys, and narrow streets, you will discover unknown treasures such as S.S. Giovanni and Paolo Square and Marco Polo’s house. Before continuing the discovery of Venice by boat, we will reach a spectacular terrace on the 5th floor of one of the tallest buildings in the city. 1-hour private boat tour – the Grand Canal and the hidden small canals

The best way to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of a city built on water is by boat. To begin, we will enjoy a boat ride on the Grand Canal: you will learn anecdotes and stories of the ancient noble families living in the magnificent palaces overlooking the Grand Canal and pass under the famous Rialto Bridge. Then, we will embark on a fascinating journey through the smaller canals of Venice, to see in a wonderful atmosphere parts of the city that are rarely visited by tourists. The boats are small enough to navigate the narrow canals, with enough space to sit comfortably outside to take photos and listen to the detailed comments provided by the guide.

Visit to the Squero

The squero is the typical Venetian shipyard where small-sized boats such as gondolas and other boats typical of the Venetian lagoon tradition are created and repaired. The term squero comes from the word “squara”, a group of people who cooperate to build the boats.

During guided tours inside the squero, the characteristics of these particular boats will be illustrated, and we will witness the crafting techniques. The visit lasts about half an hour.

Spritz in a traditional Osteria

The tour will end in a traditional Osteria frequented by Venetians, a must-stop to taste the Spritz and cicchetti, a gastronomic experience not to be missed.
