On your day trip to Pompeii we will travel southwards, taking the “Highway of the Sun”. First we cross the fertile Roman countryside, seeing the medieval villages in the area known as “Castelli Romani”. Along the way you will pass the Abbey of Montecassino, completely rebuilt after the 2nd world war.
After about 2 hours, we leave the highway of the Sun and cross the fertile valley of Mount Vesuvius. Arriving in Pompeii meet your expert English speaking local guide, who will show you the main sights and also tell you the whole history of Pompeii, not just of its destruction but also what the life was like there.
With the archaeological walk in the ancient city of Pompeii (about 2/3 hour), you will see how the Roman people lived, the places they frequented, and also, patrician villas with their splendors, baths, temples, Pompeian paintings, places of pleasure, the street, shops….
You will feel like you were stepping back in time, in a city from which the inhabitants have just moved away, where almost everything has remained intact, as the bodies of the men at the time of the eruption.
At the end of the visit start your journey (approx. 3 hours) back to Rome. Please contact us if you wish to add lunch or visit Volcano Vesuvius.
