While we were in Rome, we decided to take a break from our strict itinerary and treat ourselves to a four-hour luxury vintage shopping tour with an experienced guide and a luxury car and driver at our disposal to discover the best luxury vintage shops in the city. We had seen enough museums and monuments, and now we wanted to hunt for some unique Italian vintage pieces. Maybe even a Fendi bag from last century…”

Vintage, a sustainable choice
Our young and friendly driver picked us up at the hotel entrance at the agreed time, and after a pleasant ride through the city center, we arrived at our first stop: a shop that offers a wide selection of vintage clothing, shoes, and accessories for men and women. Without wasting any time, we dived into the colorful garments, and the hunt began. Sienna fell in love with a pair of 80s red leather boots, I opted for a more sober look with a striped sweater and black pants. Veronica, our guide, explained that this store is highly appreciated by young Romans looking for an original and alternative style. But the first thing she said was that buying vintage clothes is a sustainable choice that allows us to give new life to items that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Furthermore, vintage provides a vast selection of unique and original items that cannot be found in fast fashion stores. And that was only the beginning!
Pieces of history of Italian fashion
We then went into a shop that offers a wide range of vintage clothes, bags, sunglasses and jewelry, and is very popular among tourists who want to take home a piece of Italian fashion history. Sienna grabbed some colorful and imaginative clothes, including a 1960s checkered dress. I found a pair of original round sunglasses.
Passionate of vintage
Chatting and laughing like three old friends, we walked to a store specialized in vintage clothing and accessories from the 70s and 80s. Sienna chose a blue jumpsuit with white stars that looked great on her, I got a floral shirt, and even our guide, struck on the road to Damascus, bought a long green skirt. She then told us that this store is run by two sisters who are passionate about vintage and personally select the items to display.

But we had not yet reached the peak of the experience. In agreement with our unparalleled guide, we decided to change neighborhoods. During the five minutes waiting for our driver to arrive, we sipped an aperitif with its related appetizers in a welcoming bar in the area.
While walking through the beautiful streets of central Rome, we found a shop considered a true gem for vintage lovers, with a carefully curated selection of clothing, coats, bags, and accessories. Sienna found a black evening dress with feathers and pearls that looked like it came out of a Hollywood movie. I came across a military green jacket with patches and colorful buttons. Our guide told us that this shop is a favorite among movie and music stars who come to Rome.

The last store we visited is part of an international chain that promotes recycling and sustainability. This store offers a wide selection of affordable clothing, footwear, and accessories. We found some beautiful Gucci robes on sale and took advantage of it.
A shared experience
After four hours of shopping, we were tired but happy. We wrapped up our tour with a final aperitif at an elegant bar near the Trevi Fountain. Veronica let loose with hilarious anecdotes that had us laughing out loud. In the end, Sienna was very happy and hugged me, saying it was one of the most beautiful days of her life and that she considers me a true friend. I replied that it had also been a pleasure for me to experience Rome from a different perspective with a friend like her.
